Standard exhaust systems are, by design, restrictive. Increasing the amount of exhaust gas flow is the first progressive step towards increasing engine performance and efficiency. HKS exhaust systems are designed to increase the mass and velocity of exhaust gas flow. This allows for a reduction in back pressure and thermal stress, thus unleashing engines potential for increased power, torque and response.
The primary goal of each HKS exhaust system is performance, quality and value. Through comprehensive flow analysis, dyno testing and tuning HKS are able to maximise horsepower gains throughout a broad powerband while also maintaining reasonable sound levels for road use. HKS exhaust systems that are designed for road use retain all factory emission equipment.
All HKS exhaust systems are vehicle specific. Each engine and chassis configuration is individually analysed to ensure each vehicle is specifically catered for. In some applications particular exhaust systems are designed dependant on the level of tune e.g. Super Drager, Hiper Muffler and Racing Muffler. Each different design has differing qualities with regard to silencer design, pipe diameter and flow characteristics.
All HKS systems feature high quality mandrel bent, bake coated aluminiumised steel piping. This allows for smooth consistent exhaust flow throughout the entire length of the exhaust system. Another important part of the HKS design is pipe diameter, this is critical to the characteristics of exhaust gas flow and is specific per vehicle. A process called mandrel bending is used to ensure that the pipe diameter remains constant throughout the full length of the exhaust system.
The HKS Super Drager
The HKS Super Drager is designed for turbo charged and normally aspirated vehicles. The Super Drager was the first system of its style to incorporate a seamless shell. The Super Drager II Series is an evolution of the original Super Drager design. The Super Drager II uses a slim line muffler shell for added ground clearance. The Super Drager and Super Drager II increase low-end torque, improve mid range response and deliver high-end horsepower.
The HKS Hiper Muffler
The HKS Hiper Muffler was inspired and designed from Japanese endurance racing. The Hiper Muffler is available for turbo charged and normally aspirated vehicles. On some applications HKS has incorporated a new race inspired offset muffler and piping design. The Hiper Muffler offers greater flow and high RPM power gains due to a less restrictive design. This is achieved by eliminating unnecessary bends for the straightest exhaust path. On turbocharged vehicles the greater gas flow velocity allows for better mid-range turbo response and high RPM power.
Racing Muffler
HKS now offer a Racing Muffler for vehicles with a power output range between 800-1000 horsepower. Constructed from SUS304 stainless steel piping mated to a titanium muffler assembly the Racing Muffler is around 40% lighter than the endurance racing inspired Hiper Muffler. The HKS Racing Muffler is FOR OFF ROAD USE ONLY.
Universal Muffler
The endurance racing inspired HKS Hiper Mufflers are now available for use in universal exhaust applications. These units are the same high quality units that are used in the vehicle specific systems. They are available in two sized tips 120mm and 95mm.
Downpipes
HKS downpipes are designed to increase exhaust gas flow and efficiency allowing quicker turbo spool up. All HKS downpipes are manufactured using the same mandrel bending process that is used in the manufacture of all HKS exhaust systems. Mandrel bending is used to ensure that the pipe diameter remains uniform throughout the entire length of the downpipe. HKS downpipes are designed to mount to factory turbo/extensions or to HKS turbo upgrade kits or extension kits. |
