Fitting Superflex Bushes
  • Remove all dust, previous bush residue, paint and old grease from contact surfaces prior to fitment.
  • Ensure any original outer shell is not inadvertently left in place. A common mistake where the old rubber bush has unbonded from its shell. In some instances the outer shell is intentionally left in place. This is explained where necessary in our online shop.
  • Do not fit new bushes to worn, rusty, or distorted fittings. Worn components must be replaced.
  • Lightly coat bush contact surfaces with assembly lubricant (where supplied) prior to fitment.
  • Insert the stainless steel tubes (where applicable) after the bushes are installed into their housing.
  • Immersing high-interference fit bushes in boiling water, can assist fitting in a very cold climate.
  • Before the final tightening, suspension arms must be at normal ride height.
  • When replacing original componentry, ensure that all nuts and bolts are tightened to original manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Bushes must not come into contact with alcohol-based solvents such as MEK, methanol, or methylated spirit.

    Using Original Outer Shell
If the Superflex bush re-uses the original outer shell, the OE rubber bush must be removed by the following procedure. This procedure applies to the following Superflex bushes : SPF0276, SPF1005, SPF1312, SPF0638, SPF1104, SPF0807K, SPF0767, SPF0234K, SPF0235K, SPF1940, SPF1411.

Note: This procedure must be carried out in a well ventilated area.

    1. Use an oxy-acetylene torch or blowlamp to warm the outer shell, this will destroy the bond between the rubber and the shell. The rubber bush can then be removed.
    2. Further heating can be used to removed any remaining rubber from inside the shell. Use a wire brush and emery paper to finish cleaning the inside of the shell.
    3. Using supplied assembly lubricant, grease the inside of the shell and the outside of the polyurethane bush then, with the aid of a vice, clamp, drawbolt or small press, push the bush into the steel shell.
    4. Grease the inside of the polyurethane bush and the outside of the crush tube (which the bolt fits through). Then press the crush tube into the centre of the polyurethane bush.
    5. The assembled bush can now be fitted to the vehicle.

Note: The original centre crush tube is required for SPF0807K, SPF0767, SPF0234K & SPF0235K.
